Dermaplaning in Huntington Beach

Twenty minutes, no downtime, and smoother skin the same day. Here is what it does, what it does not do, and how it differs from doing it yourself.

No, dermaplaning does not make hair grow back thicker

Dermaplaning cuts hair at the surface. It does not touch the follicle, which is the only thing that determines how many hairs you have, how thick they are, and what colour they are. None of that can change from cutting.

What does change is the tip. An uncut vellus hair tapers to a fine point. A cut one has a blunt end, so for a few days it can feel slightly coarser under your fingers. It is the same hair, growing back exactly as it was.

The stubble feeling passes. The hair does not multiply.

What dermaplaning actually does

A sterile blade is drawn across the skin at an angle, removing dead surface buildup and fine facial hair in one pass.

Two things follow. Light reflects off smooth skin rather than scattering across fuzz, which is why the difference shows immediately. And whatever goes on afterward reaches skin rather than sitting on a layer of dead cells, which is why we put product on while absorption is at its highest.

Doing it yourself, and what is different here

At-home tools exist and they work for what they are. If you are happy with yours, keep using it.

  • A fresh sterile blade, used once, then discarded

  • Angle and pressure that lift buildup rather than skim the surface, which is most of the difference in how long smoothness lasts

  • Someone who can see your whole face, including the parts you are working on blind in a mirror

  • Product applied straight afterward, while absorption is at its peak

  • And someone who will stop if your skin should not be dermaplaned today

That last one is the real difference. A razor does not know you have an active breakout.

When we would not do it

Not over active breakouts or inflamed skin.

A blade across an active breakout spreads bacteria and irritates skin that is already unhappy. If that is what is happening on the day, we will say so before you are on the table and do something useful instead.

If congestion and breakouts are the concern rather than texture, peels or a treatment facial get you further.

What Sets Us Apart

This is the least expensive thing we do and we treat it like the rest of them. Your skin gets looked at first, and if today is not the day for a blade, we say so and you are not charged for it.

Nobody here is going to talk you into the $95 version when the $65 add-on is what you came for.

Whenever you want the smoothest your skin gets, we would be glad to do it properly.
