What a chemical peel does
A chemical peel is a controlled exfoliation. We apply an acid blend that loosens the bonds holding dull, damaged surface cells in place, so your skin clears them faster than it would on its own and builds newer cells underneath.
That is the whole mechanism. Everything else, the strength, the acid, the number of layers, is a decision about how far into that process we push and how fast.
Scared of peeling? Don't be.
Several of our peels produce no visible flaking at all, the No Peel Peel and the Polite Peel are built that way on purpose. The work happens below the surface where you can't watch it.
Visible peeling is a side effect, not the result, and it's not the measure of whether a peel worked.

What a course of peels looks like here
We reassess your skin at every appointment, not only the first one. What we planned in January isn't automatically what you get in March, because your skin in March isn't the same skin.
Your rhythm depends on the peel and your goal, some are spaced closer together, some need more recovery time between sessions. We'll tell you what that looks like for you specifically, and why, before we start.
Bodies aren't rigid, so we move the interval when your skin says to, rather than holding you to a number that stopped fitting.
We don't charge for things you don't need. If your skin isn't ready for what you booked, we'll say so before we start and do what's actually useful instead.

You will feel tingling or warmth while the solution is on. Stronger peels feel warmer. It is a short sensation, not a painful procedure, and we tell you what you will feel before we apply anything.

Most first timers start in the no visible peeling group, often the No Peel Peel at $135 or the Polite Peel at $165. We confirm at your appointment once we have seen your skin.

Lighter peels build across a series rather than resolving in one session. Pigmentation is the long project. Texture and congestion move faster. You get a real number at your first visit and we revise it out loud if your skin moves faster or slower than expected.

After a no downtime peel, yes, the same day.
After anything in the peeling groups, wait until the skin has finished shedding. We tell you which applies before you leave.

That is common and it is not a problem. Read what happens at a first visit and book that instead of booking a peel directly. We would rather see your skin before you buy a treatment for it.

You can. But if you have never been treated professionally, we may tell you your skin is not ready for the peel you picked, and do something more useful that day instead.

No. They remove dead surface cells that are already on their way off, and the response underneath is your skin building more collagen. Skin treated on a sensible schedule ends up thicker and better functioning, not thinner.
Thinning comes from doing too much too often, which is the thing we are pacing you away from.

Yes. Some of ours are built to produce no visible flaking at all, and the work is happening below the surface where you cannot watch it. Peeling is a side effect of how deep we went, not a measure of whether anything changed. Judging a peel by how much skin comes off is like judging a workout by how sore you are.

Texture, congestion, dullness and surface tone move well, often within a series. Pigmentation moves more slowly because it sits deeper. Fine lines soften. Deep scarring and loose skin are not what peels are for, and if that is what you are after we will point you at microchanneling or tell you honestly that we do not have the right thing for it.

Depth, and what it asks of you. The No Peel Peel at $135 works on the outermost layer with nothing visible afterward. The 4% Retinol combinations go considerably deeper, need prior peel experience, and come with several days of visible shedding. Everything in between is a different point on the same line.
